Our measurements
Clean speech: a deterministic 100-clip LibriSpeech test-clean subset with 40 speakers, measured October 21, 2026 using a release build, FluidAudio 0.17.7, Parakeet EOU 120M, 160 ms chunks, and unpaced file input. Word error rate is (substitutions + deletions + insertions) ÷ reference words. It is not a microphone latency test or a measure of all speech conditions.
Live insertion: Soona 0.1.0 build 2, macOS 26.6.2, built-in speakers and microphone, and TextEdit 1.20. The same synthetic seven-word sentence was repeated 100 times. All sessions inserted progressively; 36 matched the reference exactly and the repeated-fixture WER was 9.14%. This test does not establish general recognition accuracy, first-sample startup time, or completed-word-to-visible latency.

What do I need to run Soona?
An Apple silicon Mac running macOS 26 or later. Soona currently supports English. You’ll need internet access for setup, model downloads, sign-in, and periodic billing checks.
What’s the difference between Live and Polish?
Live shows transcription as you speak. Polish takes your completed thought and rewrites it locally in the selected mode. Both voice recognition and rewriting run on your Mac after their models have downloaded.
Does my voice ever leave my Mac?
Your dictation audio and writing are processed locally. They are not sent to Soona’s billing service or content analytics. Your account and billing information still need an online service. Read the privacy notice for the details.
Can I use Soona without Wi-Fi?
Yes, after setup and model downloads, while your trial or subscription entitlement is valid. Paid access works offline for up to 30 days after the last successful check, bounded by your paid-through date plus 7 days of grace. Reconnect to refresh your account status.
How does the free trial work?
Download Soona, finish setup, and sign in with a code sent to your email. Your 7-day trial begins only when you choose Start Seven-Day Trial in the app. No payment card is required. To keep using Soona after the trial, choose a monthly or yearly subscription.
Where can I dictate?
Use Soona with text fields in your Mac apps. Insertion depends on the receiving app and your macOS permissions. When direct insertion is unavailable, copy your transcript from the recording pill or from History if you have saving enabled. See the verified compatibility notes.
Can I cancel or use a second Mac?
Each subscription includes two Macs. You can cancel renewal through the billing portal when billing is available; access continues through the paid period. Sign in with the same email on your second Mac.
