What you’ll need

• An Apple silicon Mac with an M-series chip and macOS 26 or later. Check Apple menu → About This Mac.
• A microphone and permission for Soona to use it while you dictate.
• Internet for setup, email sign-in, model downloads, and occasional account checks. Your speech and writing are processed on your Mac.
• Space for local models. Setup shows the required downloads. The writing model is optional for Live dictation.

From download to your first sentence

1. Move Soona into Applications.Open soona.dmg and drag Soona onto Applications. Eject the disk image, then launch Soona from Applications.
2. Allow recording and text insertion.Follow setup to grant Microphone and Accessibility access. You can review either permission in System Settings → Privacy & Security.
3. Get your local models.Download the speech model for dictation. Add the writing model for Polish and Rewrite Selection. Downloads can resume if your connection is interrupted.
4. Sign in and start your trial.Enter the code sent to your email. Choose Start Trial after setup is ready; the seven-day clock starts then. No payment card is required.
5. Hold Option–Space and speak.Focus the text field where you want to write. Hold the shortcut, say your thought, and release to finish. Choose Live to see words as you speak or Polish to insert a cleaned-up draft.

Two ways to get your words down

Live transcribes while you speak and inserts into supported text fields. Polish waits until you finish, then cleans up grammar, punctuation, and fillers locally. For existing writing, select text, choose an instruction, and review the rewrite before applying it.

$8 per month or $72 per year, with unlimited local dictation and rewriting. Both plans include every writing mode, personal vocabulary, and local history. Use the same account on up to two active Macs.

Subscriptions will open with the public release. No payment is taken before checkout is available.

Cancel renewal at any time; access continues through the paid period. Paid offline access lasts up to 30 days after an account check, ending no later than seven days after your paid-through date. A trial ends at its original seven-day deadline.
