Your words, where you work.
Soona puts writing into supported text fields and keeps a copy within reach when direct insertion isn’t available.
Made for Apple silicon
Soona requires an M-series Mac running macOS 26 or later. The initial release supports English. Intel Macs, Windows, and mobile devices are not supported.
How text reaches your app
- Live insertion: words appear as you speak when Soona can safely identify and edit the destination text range.
- Final paste: supported destinations receive the finished transcript after recording. Soona preserves the clipboard and restores it only if you haven’t copied something else.
- Copy: when a destination can’t be verified, use Copy in the recording pill or History, then paste where you want.
Current app checks
Compatibility depends on the app version, the text field, and your permissions. This list reflects completed checks and will expand with each release.
| App | Insertion status |
|---|---|
| TextEdit 1.20 | Live insertion verified with Soona 0.1.0 build 2 on macOS 26.6.2. |
| Notes, Mail, Messages, Slack | App-specific verification is in progress. Live insertion is not yet confirmed. |
| Safari, Chrome, Google Docs | Text-field verification is in progress. Live insertion is not yet confirmed. |
| VS Code, Cursor | Editor verification is in progress. Live insertion is not yet confirmed. |
| Terminal, iTerm | Copy only. Review the text and paste it yourself. |
You stay in control
If you switch focus, move the selection, or edit the destination during recording, Soona pauses insertion. Your transcript stays in the pill and, if saving is enabled, in History. Password fields and Secure Input are excluded. Soona never presses Return, sends a message, or runs a command for you.
Recognition and rewriting
Results depend on your microphone, speaking conditions, and the words you use. Add names and preferred spellings to Vocabulary, and review important names, numbers, and dates before sending your text.
